Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council proposes to vary the maximum fees specified in section 70 of the Act for each of the five licensing zones (Sedgemoor, Mendip, South Somerset, Taunton Deane and West Somerset) to:
Hackney carriage vehicle grant application and licence: £118
Hackney carriage vehicle grant application and 3 month licence – for temporarily vehicle replacement:  £69
Hackney carriage vehicle renewal application and licence: £103
Private hire vehicle grant application and licence: £124
Private hire vehicle grant application and 3 month licence – for temporarily vehicle replacement: £69
Private hire vehicle renewal application and licence: £103
Private hire operator grant application: £56
Private hire operator renewal application: £53
Private hire operator licence fee (5 year licence or less – refundable if grant or renewal application refused): £220
A copy of this notice will, during normal office hours, be displayed for public inspection, free of charge, at County Hall, The Crescent, Taunton, TA1 4DY, for a period of 28 days from the date of publication of this notice. Any objection to the proposed fees, together with the grounds on which they are made, should be submitted in writing to the Licensing Manager via licensing.south@somerset.gov.uk and be received by no later than the 18th of February 2026.The proposed fees (with or without modification, as decided after consideration of any objections received) will come into force on 1st April 2026.
