Avon & Somerset Police are carrying out an investigation at an address in South Street, Wells. Officers were called to the property by the ambulance service just after 2.30pm on Sunday 7 November. They found the body of a woman at the property and her death is being treated as suspicious. A murder inquiry has been launched. However Police emphasise that the cause of death has not yet been determined.

For the moment the Police have closed South Street while they complete their work.

Formal identification is yet to take place. However the woman’s immediate next of kin have been informed and are being supported. Two men were arrested overnight on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody this morning, Monday 8 November.
