Your Party – Jeremy Corbyn’s new political outfit – sets date for Somerset meeting

YOUR Party – the new political organisation founded by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and others – is hosting a meeting in Somerset for members.

On November 22, county members of the party will gather at the Avalon Room in Glastonbury “to meet and prepare for the inaugural party conference in Liverpool”.

From 1.30pm, party officials aim to capture views on the recently-released founding documents, and to identify and discuss key issues impacting market towns and rural communities.

Information gathered will be shared with Somerset delegates who are selected for Your Party’s first conference, set for November 29 and 30.

Samantha Briggs, a Your Party member and organiser, said: “We are excited to meet as many local Your Party members as possible at this event.

“The members we have spoken to already are looking forward to working together closely to make a difference at a grassroots level, and to ensure that current distractions in the Parliamentary Group do not overshadow the wishes of members, especially those of us in rural areas.”

Nationally, membership of Your Party has reached 50,000, with 800,000 expressions of interest received following launch.
