PEOPLE in Taunton will be able to find out more about plans for the former town-centre bus station site at an event next week.
On Tuesday, August 6, Somerset Council will host a drop-in event between 2pm and 5pm at Taunton Library Glass Box.
It will feature more information on the council’s plan to create a transport hub at the Tower Street site, after the bus station closed in March 2020.
The new hub is part of the authority’s Bus Service Improvement plan and aims to offer a range of transport options, including bus, coach, and bike parking.
It will also feature attractive public spaces, green areas, as well as links to the town centre and the River Tone, the council said.

The project is funded by ring-fenced Government money which can only be used to develop the transport hub.
Meanwhile, the council is running an online survey to gather people’s views on the plans, which runs until September 17.

Lead member for transport and digital, Councillor Richard Wilkins, said: “Please do try and come along to the drop-in if you can, the team can try to answer any questions you may have, and you can have a detailed look at the plans.
“The Transport Hub is a really welcome development for bus users and those wishing to cycle or walk in Taunton.”
