Youngsters celebrate buying their first home as Taunton development nears completion

THE first residents of the final phase of a Taunton housing development have moved into their new home.

Earlier this year, Persimmon secured planning permission for the final phase – of 90 homes – at Hartnells Farm, the last step in completing 320 new homes on the site, when complete.

And in November, the first phase-four residents of the development, north of the Monkton Heathfield urban extension, have started moving in.

Among them were Aidan and Abigail, 23 and 21 respectively, who chose Hartnells Farm as their first home having been a couple for seven years.

Car servicing professional Abigail said: “It feels like an incredible accomplishment – and made the hard-work, energy, and stress seem entirely worthwhile.

“We are so excited now to make our home our own in a way you just can’t without the home being truly yours.

“We chose Monkton because we love quiet villages and it’s in the perfect location work wise for both of us, and the mid-point between each of our families. And now we have room for a puppy – if I can get Aidan to agree.”

NHS distribution worker, Aidan, added: “The sales process couldn’t have been any easier and everyone we have had the pleasure of meeting – like Lisa, Jodie, and Jordan – made it incredibly seamless and never thought we had stupid questions. It was an amazing experience and its great to be moved in time for Christmas.

“We are incredibly proud to be homeowners at our age, especially with how difficult it is for people like us to get on the property ladder.

“However, if you put your mind to it and you really want it, the whole buying process is worth it in the end.”

Persimmon Homes south west sales director, Stacey Harris, said: “We are delighted the first properties at our exciting Hartnells Farm development are selling and the positive interest we’ve seen in the good quality, affordable homes available on site.

“At Persimmon, we provide ourselves on building good quality homes for local people and we believe we will deliver a development which will meet the needs of local people and deliver a long-term, sustainable community.”
