A CHARITY supporting young people who care for others in Somerset has been handed £700 to help make the young carers’ Christmas extra special.
Jackson Drilling Holdings’ donation to Friends of Somerset Young Carers (FoSYC) will be used to provide Christmas vouchers for the young carers and also to cover the costs of producing new leaflets, which will help raise awareness of the charity’s work and reach more families in need.
A spokesperson for the company said: “At Jackson Drilling Holdings Ltd, we believe in giving back to our community by supporting causes that make a real difference in people’s lives.
“This year, we chose to donate £700 to FoSYC because of the incredible work they do in supporting young people who take on the challenging role of caring for family members.
“Young carers often face pressures that impact their education, social life, and most importantly their emotional well-being.
“By supporting FoSYC, we hope to help ease some of that burden and enable these young individuals to access the resources, respite, and guidance they need to thrive as well as spending time with their friends.
“This donation reflects our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve, and we are proud to contribute to such a meaningful cause.”
FoSYC was set up in 2006 when it became apparent that the young carers in Somerset needed more support to help them to put their worries responsibilities to one side for a short time, to allow them to be children again.
Every penny donated to the friends’ charity goes directly to helping the young carers.
