Yeovil MP presses Parliament to urge Italian authorities over search for missing Chard man

YEOVIL MP Adam Dance has addressed Parliament to urge Italian authorities to continue their investigation into the disappearance of a Chard man in Sardinia.

Michael Frison (25) had been visiting relatives and volunteering on a farm in the northern part of the Italian island before he disappeared on July 13 in countryside near Luras.

The physical search for Michael officially ended on July 26 -a move criticised by Michael’s mother Cristina Pittalis who said she is “extremely disappointed” with the Italian police.

Since then, Cristina alongside Michael’s 10-year-old brother, have picked up leads themselves, searching villages, open terrain and cities where they have been alerted of potential sightings.

Back in the UK, Adam Dance, made his first intervention in the House of Commons to ask the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to urge the Italian authorities to continue to search for Michael.

As a result, Adam met with the Minister of State at the FCDO, Stephen Doughty, and is in regular contact with both the Foreign Office and the UK Police to find ways of supporting and helping Cristina, and Michael’s younger brother.

Mr Dance said: “Michael is a constituent of mine and I was pleased to raise the issue of Michael’s disappearance in the Commons last week.

“We now have Government attention which has led to further involvement both in the UK and in Italy to help Michael’s mother Cristina find out what has happened to her son.”

A GoFundMe has been launched should the family need to fund a search team and a private investigator to find Michael.
