A WOMAN, two children and a dog were rescued through a first-floor window as fire ravaged a property in Taunton.
Crews from the town were sent to the scene, in Dorchester Road, at around 1.12am on Monday morning (February 19) after reports of a downstairs fire.
“On arrival crews confirmed that there was smoke and flames issuing and people still within the property,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“A further Fire Engine from Bridgwater was then sent to assist.
“Crews rescued one adult female, two children and one dog from the property via a first floor window.”
The fire was put out using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a safety jet, a triple extension ladder, ventilation fan and thermal image camera, they added.
The kitchen was 60% damaged by fire and smoke, with smoke damage throughout.
“The ambulance was called to check over the residents,” the spokesperson added. “The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
