West Somerset Railway general manager Jacquie retires after more than 10 years

WEST Somerset Railway (WSR) general manager Jacquie Green has retired from the role after more than a decade.

Jacquie is well known to travellers and volunteers alike through her work on the heritage railway line, with a West Somerset Rwailway Association (WSRA) spokesperson saying they would “be sorry to learn of the news”, which they said was due to ill health.

WSRA chair, Edward Martin, said: “Jacquie took up the general manager job in the wake of a period of turbulence for the association, steadied the ship and made sure members’ interests and needs were maintained and met.

“From that essential foundation the association was able to maintain its support for the West Somerset Railway through the Covid era and in other recent periods of need.”

“We will miss the continuity of information and advice that Jacquie provided in what is a volunteer-led organisation,” he added.

“Following on from her time as head of catering for the West Somerset Railway, she has made a significant contribution to the history of the line between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead.

“We wish her well for the future and offer many thanks for her time and work with us.”
