PEOPLE are being reminded to keep dogs out of children’s play areas after mess was left and equipment muddied in Bridgwater.
Bridgwater Town Council (BTC) said crews had been out to clean up after dogs caused problems at the Victoria Park play area – with teams scouring CCTV to catch the culprit.
“Our Open Spaces and Parks Team work hard every day to keep our parks clean, welcoming and safe for everyone. That’s why it’s so disappointing to discover when areas have been misused,” a BTC spokesperson said.
“Unfortunately, dogs were taken into the children’s play area at Victoria Park, resulting in mess being left behind, the grass being churned up and muddy paw prints spread across the equipment.

“Our operatives have already been out to clean and tidy the site and we will be reviewing the CCTV footage.
“A polite reminder that it is an offence for dogs to enter a children’s play area. This rule is in place to keep these spaces hygienic and safe for the families and young children who use them.
“Thank you for helping us look after our parks and open spaces.”
The news comes after recent upgrades at Mansfield Park play area thanks to funding from BTC.
