A BUNGALOW in Pilton could be demolished – and replaced with two three-bedroom houses – if plans are approved.
The proposed scheme, for Tanglewood, in Top Street, has been submitted to Somerset Council by MJW Architects, on behalf of the property owner.
Tanglewood sits on a site of around 0.09 hectares, alongside other land owned by the applicant, with plans for two houses “suitable for family occupation”.
The application said: “The site is located within the village of Pilton, a historic settlement best known for its strong rural identity and proximity to the Glastonbury Festival site.
“The site is within walking distance of key village amenities including the church, school, and bus stops.
“The surrounding area is characterised by a mix of traditional stone cottages and new infill development.”

It said the proposed homes would be two-storey, “in-keeping with the street scene of predominantly two-storey dwellings along Top Street”.
“The proposed houses could be no higher than the adjacent existing two-storey house”, it added, with no side windows proposed in order to “respect privacy of neighbours”.

Currently, the plans are ‘outline’, meaning further details would be confirmed in a subsequent application.
