A TRACTOR and 20 tonnes of hay are believed to have been destroyed by fire last night.
At around 10.20pm on Thursday (March 5), firefighters from Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea were sent to reports of a tractor blaze in East Huntspill.
When they arrived, they requested support, with engines from Taunton and a unit from Street also attending as the tractor was inside the barn.
After a lengthy battle with the blaze, a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the incident had been dealt with.
“This was a fire involving 20 tonnes of hay in a barn,” they said. “Crews worked to extinguish the fire with four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one precautionary water wall and farm machinery.”
