AN updated proposal to take over the home of Frome Town Football Club will be considered next month.
On July 2, Frome Town Council will review a new plan, which would see a private operator lease the Badgers Hill Stadium.
It comes after a previous proposal to take over the ground was rejected by councillors, who felt the scheme did not give sufficient assurances over the future of the site as a community resource.
Ahead of the July full council meeting, which will consider the plan, chair of FTC, Cllr Fiona Barrows, said: “Frome Town Council welcomes the new proposal from the private operator and will consider it carefully.

“Our priority remains protecting Badgers Hill as a vital community asset, both as a football club and more.
“Having secured the site from repossession three years ago, and with almost £1 million of public money and grants invested into the site since, we have a responsibility to safeguard this investment for our community.
“Any business plan must be truly sustainable, and have community benefit at their heart. We all want Badgers Hill to remain for generations to come.
“Ultimately, we’re all on the same team; tribal tensions have dominated the conversation and get in the way of the shared passion, vision and common ground that must take central stage now.”
A full agenda for the July Full Council meeting will be issued before June 25. Places at the meeting are full, but people are being encouraged to have their say over the plans online at bit.ly/badgers-hill-2nd-july.
