Toilets and waiting room at Yeovil Bus Station to move as demolition enters ‘final phases’

TOILETS and waiting room facilities at Yeovil Bus Station are to be moved as work continues on demolishing Glovers Walk buildings.

The temporary move will see the waiting room, accessible toilet, and operational facilities for bus station staff and drivers relocated to the Earle Street car park from Monday, July 14, opening during times buses are running from the station.

Hoardings have been installed in the running lane of the bus station to ensure the bus station can operate during the demolition work.

“Benches and seating behind this hoarding will be inaccessible during the work,” a Somerset Council spokesperson said. “They will be moved for safekeeping and reinstated once the demolition work is completed.

“Passenger and driver facilities are due to be back in place in the autumn, but this will depend on the progress of the Glovers Walk site.”

Councillor Richard Wilkins, lead member for transport and waste, said: “This marks the final phases of this work to enable future development of the Glovers Walk site.

“I am pleased that, as part of the work, we are providing toilets for passengers, an improvement on the current situation. We will continue to work with the bus partnership and bus operators.”
