Three freed from wreckage after bus crashes into tree near Taunton

A BUS crashed into a tree near Taunton in the early hours of this morning – with two people taken to hospital.

The incident, in Monkton Heathfield Road, Monkton Heathfield, occurred at just after 4am, with fire crews from the town and emergency services sent to the scene.

“Crews from Taunton attended an incident where a bus had crashed into a tree,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“Three casualties were inside the bus requiring medical assistance, and were removed by fire crews and paramedics.

“Police also attended the scene. Crews made the vehicle safe and duty of care was left with recovery.”

Avon & Somerset Police said two people had needed hospital treatment.

“We received a call just after 4am this morning reporting a collision in which a bus has collided with a tree in Monkton Heathfield Road, in Monkton Heathfield near Taunton,” a spokesperson said.

“Two people were taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.”
