A FORMER gatehouse in Somerset that resembles a Hobbit house from the Lord of the Rings stories is up for sale.
The grade II-listed property, a former gatehouse for Chapel Cleeve Manor, near Minehead, is being marketed by GTH with a guide price of £525,000.
With a thatched roof and “period character, modern comfort and idyllic countryside surroundings”, the house boasts three bedrooms, including one en-suite, plus a unique circular sitting room with a character fireplace.
“Believed to have been built in the 1830s, this enchanting, thatched cottage is thought to have once served as the gatehouse to Chapel Cleeve Manor,” the listing said.
It also features a kitchen/breakfast room, and a part-vaulted ceiling with exposed beams.
Outside, the front and rear gardens enjoy countryside views, with a range of outbuildings, including a timber summerhouse/shed, external utility room, and greenhouse.
