THE happiest place to live in Somerset has been unveiled after a new poll.
And the survey – of some 5,000 people – has revealed Bath is Somerset’s happiest place.
The historic city was the highest-rated county location in the top 75 happiest places following the poll, by online furniture Furniturebox.
Top of the national list was Norwich, followed by Skipton in Yorkshire, and Malvern in Worcestershire.
The top five was completed by Nantwich in Cheshire in fourth and Banbury in Oxfordshire, fifth.
For Somerset, seaside resort Minehead was second, followed by Bruton in third, Frome in fourth, and Wells in fifth.
Locations were ranked according to the beauty of the surroundings and green spaces, provision of good state schools and affordable housing, as well as access to quality pubs, restaurants, independent shops and cultural attractions.
A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “Bath is the happiest place to live in Somerset.
“All 75 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a wonderful place to live, loved by visitors from all over the world.
“Most of the locations in the top 75 are not the most affluent in their localities and have access to some affordable housing including Bath which is very popular with families.
“The survey shows that the happiest places are not defined by wealth but by the quality of life within them.”
