SOMERSET crews were called to a trio of vehicle fires on Thursday (September 25) – including a tractor.
The first shout came in the early hours – at just before 2am – when Taunton firefighters were sent to an incident in Corfe.
“Two fire engines were mobilised following a report of a vehicle on fire,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“Upon arrival crews confirmed that the vehicle was well alight.”
Crews used a hose reel jet, a thermal image camera, but the said the vehicle was “100% damaged by fire”, with the cause “believed to be accidental”.
Elsewhere, at just after 3pm, crews from Dulverton and Minehead were sent to reports of a farm vehicle fire at Exford.
“Crews attended a tractor and seeder machine on fire,” the spokespersons aid.
“Crews put the fire out using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets. The cause of the fire was accidental, and caused severe damage.”
Then, at around 4.20pm, firefighters from Bridgwater and Burnham were called to the M5.
A car was reported on fire on the hard shoulder, with the route closed in both directions for a short time.
“The vehicle was severely damaged by fire and crews confirmed the ignition to be accidental,” the spokesperson added.
