BUS services in Somerset will be disrupted this month as drivers take industrial action over a pay and conditions dispute.
Members of the RMT union at First Bus South, which runs Buses of Somerset (BoS), are set to walkout on Friday (August 9) and Monday (August 12), as well as withholding overtime on Saturday and Sunday (August 10 and 11).
The move could see dozens of services across the county cancelled.
Somerset Council warned: “Negotiations continue, but if the action goes ahead the disruption will only affect the BoS services, provided by First Bus South, not other providers operating in the county.
“The extent of the disruption would not be known until the days of action themselves.”
They added: “In the event of strike action, unfortunately no service can be guaranteed and all may be subject to last minute change. Passengers should check before travelling.”
BoS warned travellers to expect disruption, with any available staff set to be deployed on routes 21, 22, 25, 28, 54, 58/58A, CR4, and the Exmoor Coaster, although it warned “no services are guaranteed”.
“We are doing all we can to operate as many services as possible and would like to apologise for the disruption that customers may experience during the industrial action,” a spokesperson said.
