Somerset-based Only Fools and Horses and Hollyoaks star passes away at 77

SOMERSET-based actor Diane Langton – a Hollyoaks favourite as Nana McQueen – has passed away.

The star, who is also remembered for a role as one of Del Boy’s girlfriends in BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses, was 77.

Agent, Shane Collins, said: “I am sad to say that Diane Langton passed away this morning.

“Diane had a rich and remarkable career appearing on stage, in films, and on television, including playing the iconic Nana McQueen in Hollyoaks from 2007 to the present day.”

Having trained at the Corona Academy and started her professional career as a dancer, touring with ballet companies throughout Europe, she began her on-screen career in 1959, with a role in Carry On Teacher.

In the 1980s, Diane played June Snell in two episodes of Only Fools and Horses.

An ex of David Jason’s Del Boy character, the pair reunited, only for the relationship to be scuppered when Del believed he was the father of June’s daughter – who was dating his younger brother Rodney.

She went on to play Bev Williams in BBC soap EastEnders, before joining Hollyoaks in 2007 as Nana. After news of her death, fellow star Elaine Page was among those paying tribute.

“In total shock at Diane Langton’s passing,” she said. “Memories of us in Hair flooding back. Her in the dressing room with a bottle of brown ale.

“We also recorded an LP, Sparrow. She was a unique, talented artist. A funny, kind and special friend. My thoughts with husband Derek. RIP Diane.”
