THE recent cold weather that has descended on Somerset this morning (January 7) has caused some delays to waste collections.
Chilcompton, Bridgwater and Evercreech have been most affected by the weather, causing issues for the county’s waste collections crew.
Somerset Council Waste Services said crews will be assessing the situation to see if some areas can be reached later today.

“If your recycling and rubbish is not collected please leave your bins, boxes and bag out and we will return tomorrow or as soon as it is safe to return,” a spokesperson said.
A weather warning has also been issued for much of Somerset warning of the potential of winter showers for tomorrow (January 8).
This includes towns such as Taunton, Ilminster, Wincanton and Glastonbury – with a yellow warning in place from 9am to midnight on Wednesday.
