THE results of an emotive election in the village of Sparkford are in.
As your Leveller recently reported, the sleepy Somerset village was thrown into high drama after a recent meeting of Sparkford Parish Council led to the resignation of five members – out of a total of seven.
The resultant election – on July 24 – saw a total of eight candidates seek to be elected to the authority, including all five of those who resigned in May.
After the votes were counted, it emerged just two of the five – Larry Piper and Andrew Quick – had been returned to the council.
Among those who didn’t make it was Ken Flood – the former chair of the council – as well as Richard Squires and David Hazel.
