POLICE are trying to track down a young person who may have filmed an alleged assault in a Frome street.
The incident, in which a man and a woman were allegedly assaulted, occurred in Cork Street some time between 1.45pm and 2.15pm on Sunday, February 11.
Officers are now appealing for information to find a young man who they believe filmed the incident but left the scene before officers arrived.
“At the time of the incident, another man called police after witnessing an argument between a man and a woman near Westway Cinema in Frome,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“The caller, in his 50s, intervened when he saw the man throw the woman, in her 30s, to the floor and punch her multiple times.
“The caller was then also assaulted and punched repeatedly by the suspect who then fled the scene in a black BMW saloon.”
The car travelled down Cork Street and into Bath Street before disappearing from sight, they added.
The suspect is described by the victims as being around 6ft tall, of medium build, with short, shaved dark hair and wearing dark trousers and a dark top.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on conditional bail.
The two victims sustained minor injuries and soreness after the assault but did not require hospital or medical treatment.
If you were in the area at the time of the incident and filmed it, or know someone who witnessed it, contact police on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5224036470.
