YOUNGSTERS are causing problems in a North Somerset village – with police increasing patrols to tackle the problem.
Avon & Somerset Police’s North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing team said it had received “multiple reports” of anti-social behaviour in and around Banwell.
Bad behaviour reported included in local shops, graffiti on private property, and individuals knocking or banging on doors, causing disturbance to residents and businesses.
“We understand the concern this has caused within the community and want to reassure residents that these matters are being taken seriously,” a spokesperson said.
“At this stage, the information we have suggests that those involved in the reported behaviour are likely to be of school age or in their teenage years.

“We are therefore asking parents and carers to speak with their children, take an active interest in their evening activities, and reinforce the importance of respectful behaviour within the community.”
They said officers will be conducting increased high‑visibility patrols in the area, and talking to residents, local groups and businesses to gather information and identify those responsible.
“Once individuals are identified, we will consider all available options, including the use of ASB legislation, enforcement powers, or the progression of criminal investigations where offences have been committed,” the spokesperson added.
Anyone who has information regarding anti-social behaviour in Banwell should contact police on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 5226032506.
