PLANS for 120 new homes in Frome have been submitted.
Pegasus Group, on behalf of David Wilson Homes, has submitted a planning application to Somerset Council which would see the homes built on land at Birchall Lane, off the B3092.
The site, of around 5.5 hectares, borders land set to be developed as part of the Selwood project, but is outside the ‘development limits’ of Frome, though the application notes their is no sufficient five-year housing land supply plan for the area.
It was also submitted to the recent ‘Call for Sites’ from Somerset Council, which encouraged landowners to come forward with locations for potential housing developments, the application said.
The proposed ‘outline’ development is for up to 120 new homes, of which 30% would be affordable, as well as pedestrian and cycle links to the north, public open space, play areas, street trees and more.
“The final dwelling mix is to be determined at reserved matters stage, but is anticipated to comprise a range of two, three and four-bedroom market properties (up to 84) and one-four bed affordable homes, comprising 30% of the total quantum (up to 36),” the application went on.
Access would come from a junction with The Mount (B3092), the plan said, with the design of homes to “reflect Frome’s historic character” and be energy efficient.
The proposals will now go before Somerset Council planners, and for more information, and to comment, log on to somerset.gov.uk and search application reference 2025/1205/OUT.
