OYEZ! Oyez! Town criers are to be put to the test in Yeovil this weekend! Oyez!

David Recardo is hosting his second competition on Saturday (April 26) to find Yeovil’s best crier for 2025.

David, who is the Yeovil crier, is set to welcome more than a dozen fellow criers to the town for a series of rounds in a range of categories.

Prizes are set to be awarded for overall winner, runners-up, best dressed crier, best dressed escort and best dressed couple.

Last year, Jeremy Holland from Cinderford in Gloucestershire was crowned best crier, with Bridport’s John Collingwood in second place, and Paul Gough, of Nuneaton & Bedworth, third.

Best dressed crier was David Green, of Torpoint, and the best dressed escort was Jan Nielsen, of Bromyard and Winslow.
