A DOG was pulled out of a well using rope rescue equipment after falling into the 18ft-deep hole.
Firefighters were sent to the scene, in Middlezoy, at just after 10.30am on Sunday morning (July 20) after reports Jackson the black Labrador had taken an unfortunate plunge.
“One fire engine was initially sent to a report of dog down a well in a domestic property,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“On arrival, crews confirmed this dog was approximately 18 feet in this well, which had water inside.
“Crews got to immediately pumping out the water, while another two crews were sent to assist with rope rescue.”
Jackson was rescued using a water ejector pump, gas monitors, a battery-operated fan and rope rescue equipment.
“Jackson the black Labrador was unharmed and reunited with his owners,” the spokesperson added.
A Taunton Fire Station spokesperson added: “Jackson the dog had been treading water for some time and was becoming tired. Firefighter Brown volunteered to enter the well and rescue Jackson.
“Crews acted swiftly and safely to reunite the 11-year-old Labrador with his owners. Using a mini ejector pump, gas monitor, battery operated fan & rope rescue equipment.
“The family who have owned Jackson since he was seven weeks old were, very grateful to all involved.”
