House plan for former Chard dry cleaners

A FORMER dry cleaners in Chard could become a two-bedroom home, if plans are approved.

APW Planning Consultants, on behalf of InvestAcc Pension Trustees Ltd, has applied to Somerset Council for permission to change the use of 17 Holyrood Street into a residential property.

Part of a row of former workers’ cottages, the application said the conversion would “support the long-term viable use of the building”, and would “preserve the character and appearance of the conservation area”.

There would be no external alterations to the property, the application said, with only internal partitions and a kitchen and sanitary ware being installed.

Cottage Cleaners shut its doors in August last year after more than two decades in Chard, when the property lease expired.

Somerset Council will now consider the planning application. For more details, and to comment, visit somerset.gov.uk and search application reference 26/00296/P3MA.
