A BUILDING in a Taunton car park could be converted into a two-bedroom home if plans are approved.
Plans, for the listed Coach House building behind 5 and 6 The Crescent, have been submitted to Somerset Council by Robinson + Ltd, on behalf of Mr P Higgins.
Formerly a commercial property, the application outlines plans to change the use of the building to a two-bed home, with three parking spaces and electric vehicle charging points.
“The applicant wishes to repurpose and improve the existing historic coach house,” it said. “The applicant has maintained the property, though it has remained commercially vacant for a number of years.”
It added: “Converting the building for residential use, within a sustainable location, appears appropriate and compatible to the historic asset, conservation area, general context and climate emergency.”
If approved, the plan would see windows replaced and internal alterations carried out to create the layout, with the exterior of the building remaining largely unchanged.
