A DOG in the care of a Somerset rescue centre needs complex surgery – and a fundraiser has now been launched to help make this a reality.
Binky, a tri-coloured terrier, is around two years old and is being looked after by the team at St Giles Animal Welfare Centre near Taunton.
But when Binky arrived at the centre, it was quickly discovered that she has Legg-Calvé-Perthes – a condition that affects the hip joint, leading to severe pain and lameness.
It is believed that as this disease is typically found in dogs aged one and under, Binky could have been suffering for some time.
The cost of the surgery is £1,200 and people are being asked to donate if they can.
Binky will be available to a loving home once surgery is completed.
Jacqui Budd of St Giles Animal Welfare said: “Being a terrier, Binky would normally be active and busy, but the disease has hampered her natural instincts.
“Once the surgery is complete she will want a loving home.
“She is such a sweet and pretty dog. If you are familiar with terriers and their charming eccentricities that make them the energetic, spirited , bold and loyal dogs that they are, please consider Binky.”
