A FORMER pub site near Ilminster – with planning permission for nine homes – is set to go up for auction.
The plot, off the A358 at Cheshay’s Hill, Horton Cross, is close to the A303 and was formerly home to The Lamb Inn.
In December last year, planning permission was granted by Somerset Council for nine homes on the site, which measures around an acre in size.
Now, it is set to go under the hammer at an April 2 sale held by auctioneers Countrywide, with a guide price in excess of £400,000.
“A rare opportunity to acquire a residential development site of circa one acre at Horton Cross, with a Grant of
Outline Planning Permission in place, under application number 22/02709/OUT, for ‘Outline application for the erection of up to 9 dwellinghouses with all matters reserved’ which was granted on the December 4, 2025,” the listing said.
It added: “The site can be located on the A358 at Cheshay’s Hill, having excellent access to the A303 and all of the major towns throughout South Somerset and East Devon.”
