Dogs rescued from Yeovil fire after cooking left unattended

TWO dogs were rescued from a fire in Yeovil – after cooking was left unattended.

Firefighters from Yeovil and Sherborne attended the blaze at around 2.13pm on Monday (October 21) after neighbours reported being able to smell smoke and hearing a smoke alarm.

“On arrival, crews confirmed there was a fire in this property and forced entry,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

“Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, a smoke clearance fan (and a) thermal image camera.”

Two dogs were rescued from the property, they said.

“The cause of the fire was cooking left unattended. There was minimal fire damage to the property and 20 per cent smoke damage to the property,” the spokesperson added.

Crews left the scene after around two hours.
