‘Distinguished’ Somerset country house – with pool – on sale for almost £3 million

A “DISTINGUISHED” Somerset country house – including a separate annexe and swimming pool – has gone up for sale.

Grade II-listed Hope House, in East Coker, near Yeovil, is on the market with an asking price of £2.85 million.

Agent Blue Book said the seven-bedroom property has medieval origins.

“Hope House is located in an idyllic private spot behind a stone wall and hornbeam hedge on the edge of the lovely village of East Coker in South Somerset,” the listing said.

“The house itself is Grade II listed and is imbued with period features from across the centuries complementing the well-proportioned rooms.

“With medieval origins traceable as far back as the 15th century, the house was altered and added to in the 16th and 17th centuries with a further late Georgian addition at the beginning of the 19th century.

“The house has been beautifully restored by the current owner who has brought its historic character back to life whilst at the same time modernising it into a comfortable family home.”

As well as the main house, the property boasts a garden annexe and outbuildings. It is set in more than two acres of gardens, including the swimming pool garden.
