Delays of around TWO HOURS on M5 through Somerset due to crash and ‘infrastructure defect’

DRIVERS are facing delays of up to TWO HOURS on the M5 after a crash and an ‘infrastructure defect’ this afternoon.

National highways said traffic is “stopped” on the motorway northbound between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 19 (Portishead).

“Delays of 120 minutes on approach,” a spokesperson said. “Please allow extra time for your journey.”

The incident has seen lanes open cut, with traffic building up, after an incident at around 3pm.

The problems come as the county is battered by heavy rain, which is set to ease as the evening progresses, though National Highways has not confirmed details of the “infrastructure defect”.
