FIREFIGHTERS from Taunton and Wellington tackled a wildfire in a field near a historic Somerset house.
Crews were sent to reports of a blaze in a field near Hestercombe House, near Taunton, on Wednesday morning (July 16).
A Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said an area of around 25m x 20m of cut grass was destroyed, as well as 15m of hedgerow.
“Crews used two hose-reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire, supported by the farmer who created fire breaks,” they added.
“The cause was accidental.”
