SOMERSET crews have been sent to reports of a fire – seen from the M5 near Burnham-on-Sea.

Firefighters from Bridgwater, Street and Burnham are on the scene at just before 11am, after a “large number of calls” reporting a blaze which could be seen from near junction 23 of the motorway (for Burnham).

“A large number of calls were received in Fire Control this morning at around 10:49am, to report a large fire that could be seen from near Junction 23 of the M5,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“Fire crews quickly made up for the following additional resources; one water bowser, one wildfire pump and three additional fire pumping appliances.

“Fire crews are currently in attendance tackling the fire.”
