A CHARD man in his 20s has died after a crash near Bridport.

The man was riding a silver Yamaha motorcycle when it was involved in an incident on the A35 near Eype, west of Bridport, Dorset, at around 6.40pm on October 5.

He was taken to hospital by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to “serious injuries”, police said, but sadly died in hospital on Thursday morning (October 17).

Police say his family has been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the serious collision investigation team at Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the young man who sadly died following this collision.

“We owe it to them to carry out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please make contact with us.”
