Car badly damaged by fire in Sparkford

THIS was the dramatic scene when a car caught fire in Sparkford this morning (August 6).

Firefighters from Castle Cary were sent to the incident at just after 8.45am, in Cary Road.

“Upon the attendance of fire crews, they confirmed that the vehicle was well alight,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“They extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus wearers, one compressed air foam system jet, one thermal imaging camera and one hose reel jet.”

The car was 50% damaged by both smoke and fire, they added.
