Car badly damaged by fire in Castle Cary

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a car fire in Castle Cary this afternoon (September 23).

A crew from the town was sent to the scene, in Dimmer Lane, at just before 12.58pm.

“Upon arrival, crews confirmed one vehicle to be well alight and set to work to extinguish the fire using two breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam branch and one hose reel jet,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“The vehicle was 75% destroyed by fire and smoke, the cause was accidental.”

The crew left the scene at around 2.50pm, they added.
