A BUNGALOW was damaged after solar panel cables in a cupboard caught fire.
The incident unfolded at a property in Minehead at around 2.54pm on Monday afternoon (April 28).
Firefighters from Minehead and Williton were initially sent to the scene, and later requested the aerial ladder platform from Taunton.
“On arrival, crews confirmed the fire was involving domestic lithium batteries and got to work with two breathing apparatus and one carbon dioxide extinguisher,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
By around 5.40pm, the blaze was extinguished, they said, adding it was confirmed “as a fire in a domestic bungalow, fire involving solar panel cables in utility room cupboard”.
It caused 75% “severe damage” to the room, they said, and 25% smoke damage to the remainder of the property.
