Bridgwater play area re-opens after major overhaul – with more to come

A BRIDGWATER play area has re-opened following a major makeover – including a multi-use games area (MUGA) which is nearing completion.

Families are being welcomed back to the Mansfield Park facility following the completion of works and safety checks.

Facilities at the site have been improved by Kompan and Somerset Landscapes, including new apparatus and green spaces.

“We’re thrilled to reopen this facility in time for the school holidays,” said Cllr Tim Mander, chair of the Bridgwater Town Council (BTC) Amenities Committee. “A big thank you to everyone involved.

“The mound area is fenced off to allow the grass to establish and the multi-use games area (MUGA) will be finished in January, but there’s plenty to enjoy right now.”

The MUGA is scheduled for completion in January, once conditions allow for the final surfacing to be laid, the council said.

Improvements also include new bins, benches, with fencing and pathways to be installed in the new year.

Funding for the project came from the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Community Fund, managed by Somerset Community Foundation.

The Hamp Community Association (HCA) also pledged financial support specifically for the MUGA and new play equipment.
