THE latest unauthorised encampment in Taunton has been reported at Upper Holway/Hawthorn Park.
Taunton Town Council (TTC) said a request has been made to Avon & Somerset Police to issue a notice calling on the group to move on.
“As there are vehicles moving around the park and the hill restricts visibility, we would urge park users to exercise extreme caution,” a council spokesperson said.
“We also remind residents to ensure that any contractors, particularly those going door to door, hold the appropriate licences to trade and dispose of waste.”

The encampment comes after a number of other incidents in the county town, including at Hamilton Park and Victoria Park, which have prompted TTC to commission work on measures to restrict access to the sites.
“Members of our leadership team recently met Gideon Amos – MP for Taunton & Wellington – to highlight the persistent challenges posed by unauthorised encampments and advocate for stronger national support and clearer enforcement powers for local authorities,” the spokesperson added.
