UPDATE: Fire crews tackled a blaze at a home near Taunton.
Crews were called to the scene, at Henlade, at just after 10am, with firefighters from six Somerset stations battling the blaze at the height of the fire.
Traffic backed up on the A358 while the incident was ongoing, but eventually got the fire under control at around 2pm.
A Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said crews used breathing apparatus, jets, ladders, a thermal imaging camera, ceiling hooks and small tools during the incident.
“Damage was sustained to the ground floor, first floor and roof of the property,” they added.
FIREFIGHTERS from six Somerset stations are battling a blaze near Taunton.
Two crews from the town were initially sent to reports of a fire in Henlade, on the outskirts of Taunton, at just after 10am.
However, a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the crews soon requested additional resources be sent to the domestic property.
“Crews from Wellington, Bridgwater, Street, Martock and Yeovil were soon all in attendance to help tackle the fire,” they added.
The incident is on-going, they said, and traffic on the A358 is facing disruption as the incident continues.
