Work at Taunton multi-storey car park to cut spaces available until November

WORK on light fittings and circuits will see the number of spaces at a Taunton car park reduced until November.

Maintenance at the Taunton station multi-storey car park will see the number of spaces cut, with Great Western Railway saying “as many bays as possible” will be kept open as the work is carried out in a number of stages.

It is set to get underway on Monday (September 23), with decks taken out of service in the following order:
• Ground floor: Monday, September 23 – Friday, October 4
• First floor: Monday, October 7 – Friday, October 11
• Second floor: Monday, October 14 – Friday, October 25
• Third floor: Monday, October 28 – Friday, November 1

GWR station manager, Adam Hopkins, said: “This essential maintenance work will reduce the parking available at this busy station and we would like to thank customers in advance for their patience.

“Please allow a little extra time to catch your train, especially from Tuesday to Thursday when the car park is a little busier.”

Vehicles will still be able to circulate through the car park, bosses said, while dedicated disabled parking bays, drop off and pick up areas are unaffected.

Should the car park be full, the nearest alternative public car park is Somerset Council Kilkenny Car Park, in Clifton Terrace.

GWR car park season ticket holders may also park in Tiverton Station Overflow 2 car park for no additional charge.
