THREE people were tragically killed in a horror crash on the A303 Ilminster Bypass.
The crash happened at around 3.30pm on Thursday (August 15) afternoon, and involved a Skoda Yeti and a van.
Police, fire and ambulance services attending the scene and officers investigating the incident are now appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward.
The collision occurred on the A303, close to Whitelackington, with the Skoda travelling westbound and the van heading in the opposite direction.
Two men, in their 40s and 70s, and a woman in her 60s, were occupants of the Skoda and were all tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
“Their next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with them. They will be supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“The two occupants of the van were taken to hospital, with one of them understood to have sustained a serious injury.”
The A303 was shut in both directions between Southfields and South Petherton for a number of hours as emergency services dealt with the incident and investigations into the crash got underway.
Anyone who can help with the investigation should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 5224215067.

I never use it. It’s dangerous. I avoid it like the plague and use the old road through Illminster. It’s negligible for the time saved and so tragic. There’s no barrier and you’re hemmed in if something goes wrong
