TEMPORARY traffic lights will be installed on a busy Bridgwater road during “vital drainage works” next week.
Drivers on the A39 Quantock Road will see the lights operating from Monday to Friday next week (February 23 to 27) as Somerset Council undertakes the work.
“The works are to increase capacity of the drainage at this location and help to drain surface water on the carriageway, making it safer for drivers,” a spokesperson said.
The two-way will span a 30-metre stretch of road, and be controlled manually from 7am to 6.30pm to minimise disruption, they added.
Advance signage will be installed on the road to make sure people know about the scheme.
Lead member for transport and waste services, Cllr Richard Wilkins, said: “Our team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drainage work is essential to make sure that surface water can drain away.
“We are extremely grateful to residents and motorists for their support and understanding while this work is done.”
