CREWS had an late – or early – callout to a fallen tree on a busy road in Yeovil.
A tree fell on to the A30 Hendford Hill at around 2am today (February 10), with Somerset Council teams sent to the scene.
Temporary traffic lights have been installed at the spot as inspections of the bank continues, with officials warning they could be in place “for some time”.
A council spokesperson said: “A big thank you to our brilliant teams who worked through the early hours after a tree fell on to the carriageway at about 2am on the A30 Hendford Hill in Yeovil, taking a large amount of the high bank with it.
“Thanks to their quick response, the tree was safely removed overnight and one lane is now clear for traffic. Temporary traffic lights are in place to keep everyone moving.
“Because the bank needs a full inspection to make sure it is stable, these lights are likely to remain for some time. Please allow extra time for your journeys if you are travelling this way.”
