Roads around M5 junction near Bridgwater to close for resurfacing – starting tonight

THE overhaul of the Dunball Roundabout, near Bridgwater and junction 23 of the M5, is nearing completion – but road closures to resurface the roads is taking place from today.

Somerset Council has advised of a number of overnight closures on roads around the busy interchange as the £10.7 million scheme finishes.

“We’re now in the final stages of the Bridgwater Dunball Roundabout improvement scheme,” a spokesperson said.

“Road resurfacing will take place throughout October, followed by traffic signal installation.

“Evening and overnight closures are needed around the Dunball roundabout to complete these works.”

People are urged to plan ahead, allowing extra time for journeys, with diversions in place via the A39 Bath Road and Puriton Hill.

Key closures around the Dunball Roundabout, near Bridgwater, for roadworks:

  • October 7 to 9 and October 13: A38 northbound (Bridgwater to Dunball): Closed 11pm to 5am
  • October 10: A38 southbound (Dunball to Bridgwater): Closed 11pm to 5am
  • October 14: A39 towards M5: Closed 7.30pm to 5am
  • October 15: East side of Dunball roundabout: Closed 7.30pm to 5am
