POLICE are urging drivers in Somerset to be extra cautious as snow hits the county.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for snow covering much of the county, which is in place until 3pm, as temperatures plummet in the south west.
Now, Avon & Somerset Police have issued a warning to those using the roads.
“We are advising the public to take additional care on the roads today,” a spokesperson said.
“Officers are describing ‘adverse weather conditions’ in parts of Somerset, including on the M5 around Junction 25 (Taunton), the A303 near Ilminster and the A30 Chard to Crewkerne.
“Motorists are advised to travel with care and to plan their journey ahead, including ensuring you have enough fuel, oil, screen wash and check your tyres.”
