DRIVERS in Langport are once again being warned to plan for months of delays as more roadworks got underway in the town centre.
Wales & West Utilities is upgrading gas pipes in the Moor Close and Somerton Road areas, with work getting underway on August 5.
In a letter to residents, the firm warned the work could last until October 4 – some two months – with traffic lights in place throughout.
“This will make sure that we keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area, so you and your family are safe and warm for generations to come,” the letter, signed by programme controller Roxanne Whittaker, said.
She said “barring any difficulties”, the work was due to be completed by October 4.
“Traffic management will be in place throughout, and motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel,” the letter went on.
It comes after previous roadworks on the route, which saw the road closed and traffic lights in place.

Maintain traffic lights 24/7…..essential…poor service so far
Wales and West Utilities are having problems with this work everywhere. My son lives in Exeter and his street of Victorian terraced houses has half the road lined with barricades where some work has been started but nothing has been done for weeks, no workmen arriving. It was supposed to be completed mid July. Parking for residents and deliveries are a nightmare.
